Mary Plant, born in Birmingham, UK, is a globally recognised singer, songwriter, and composer. Her journey to stardom began in 2012 when she was discovered and supported by Leslie Frederick (Elton John) and Paul Robinson (Nina Simone, Paul McCartney) who joined her superband for the launch of her first album, "We're Punk". Also joining her on stage for the launch was Tino Troy (Praying Mantis), Sam Evans (Florence and the Machine), son of the drummer Guy Evans (Van Der Graf Generator) and Michelle Somerszaule (Omar). Soon after touring London and Los Angeles, she signed with SkyDancer Label and Management and recorded the album at Real World Studios. Her debut single, "Absolute Love" was an instant hit, being composed and written during the recording session.
Over the years, Mary has released three other albums, including "Harmony Through Conflict," "Join The LoverLution," "Be Harmless," and to be released in 2024 "Rise." Her music is mainly rock, but also spans a variety of genres, from jazz and soul to reggae and psychedelic, reflecting her British and Caribbean roots while also showcasing her versatility. Mary's distinctive voice, coupled with her ability to evolve with trends while setting her own, has solidified her as one of the best musical artists of all time.
Alex started playing percussion in Estonia 11 years ago. With these new found musical skills he took to the streets across Europe taking every opportunity to expand his talent by lending his rhythm to the musicians he played with
His musical influences while living in Estonia ranges from punk rock, rock, reggae and indie.
While in Spain 3 years ago, he started playing with Smokin Mary Plant and will be adding his creativity to the forthcoming album to be released this year.
David Marcos, current drummer of Smokin Mary Planta has experience in several flamenco rock groups in the Granada area. He brings strong and delicate synergistic rhythms that energizes Smokin Mary Plant.
Ken Crudgington, lead guitar. With many years of experience playing in bands in London and the South East of England in mixed genres of indie, rock, hard rock and metal, Ken moved to Granada in 2016 where he has played in leading Granada based hard rock cover version bands Bandit212, Bandit Dolls and currently GinSonic. He also writes and produces music for his own solo projects and with other musicians which can be found on the Ken Crudgington YouTube channel. He has played live with Mary and Smokin Mary Plant for several years, and contributes to the mixing and production as well as guitar parts on the new Album and on the 2023 single Living in the City. His style is heavily influenced by classic blues based hard rock acts from the 70s, but with shades of indie, pop, electronic, reggae, punk and alternative styles.
Jose Navarrete, current bassist of the band Smokin Mary Plant, has a long career in different groups, most of them based in the Campo de Gibraltar area (Cádiz).
The riffs influenced by garage rhythms from the 70s and 80s injected by Jose, give the necessary character demanded by SMP.
